Since 2023, I’ve been photographing dance events for CSULB’s Grupo Folklórico, capturing the energy, culture, and tradition of each performance. One of my biggest challenges early on was shooting in low-light settings, which pushed me to really learn how to adjust my camera settings on the fly. Over time, this taught me to be more cautious, intentional, and prepared—thinking ahead about lighting conditions and how to best capture movement in dynamic environments. It’s been a rewarding experience that continues to sharpen both my technical skills and creative eye.

At CSULB’s ASI Spring Concert, I had the opportunity to photograph DJ Steria. This event challenged me to adapt to fast-paced, unpredictable lighting and dynamic movement, allowing me to explore a different side of event photography. I especially enjoyed working with the bold colors and lighting effects, using them to enhance the energy and atmosphere of the performance. This experience helped me grow creatively and technically, expanding the range of environments I feel confident shooting in.

Over the past two years, I’ve worked as a multimedia student assistant for CSULB Student Affairs, where I had the opportunity to photograph a wide range of events and campaigns across campus. This role allowed me to explore and strengthen my skills in multiple photography styles from professional headshots and portraits to large-scale events, cultural celebrations, and student dances. Each project helped me grow as a visual storyteller while reinforcing the importance of capturing authentic moments that reflect the diversity and spirit of the student body.
